Since its inception in 1996, this will be the first curated exhibition that is significantly centered on the collections of the NGMA (Mumbai).

A. A. Almelkar  studied at Nootan Kalamandir, Mumbai,art school was  started by Prof: G.S. Dandavatimath from 1935 to 1940, Almelkar obtained his Diploma in painting in 1940 from Sir, JJ School of Arts,Mumbai.

The National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai invites you to the inauguration of the exhibition 
'Jamini Roy 1887-1972: Journey to the Roots',
curated by Ms. Ella Datta, 
on Thursday, 4th June 2015 at 6.00 pm. 

The exhibition showcases around 200 artworks of Jamini Roy, including paintings, sculptures, drawings and sketches.

Please also join us for the 'Walk-through with the Curator' by Ms. Ella Datta, 6.45 pm- 7.30 pm. 

E-invite for further outreach programme will follow.

The exhibition will be on view for public from 5th June  -12 July 2015, everyday from 11.00 am – 6.00 pm, 
(Except on Mondays and National holidays).
